Speech About Hopes and Dreams

Good morning teachers, parents, and my beloved friends.

Dear my school friends, it is with overwhelming pride that I can speak to you today, in what I believe will be one of the most important moment of your youth. Today maybe all of you have passed various obstacles in high school

Right now, most of you must have already planned your next step. Some of you will go to university, studying a major that you have been longing for lengthy time. Some of you will perhaps go straight into the working field.

As your school friends, I want to tell you something that is of great importance, yet easy to forget even perhaps not noticed at all. I will say it loud and clear: whatever your dreams, goals, and who you want to be, as long as it is an act of virtue and it does not hurt other people, then it is valid.

The path leading towards something of value, will not always be straight, flat, warm, nor bright. At times, it’s winding, with valley and hills, the weather’s freezing, and lights are so dim. Scary thing is when we can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, it is when we start to lose hope. At those moments, I want all of you including me not to think, but just keep walking. We will rediscover hope in people’s smiles, in prayers of our loved ones. Hope will come around, for it is always in our heart, never leaving.

Obstacles we will face, but we should not feel debased. If there are fifty thousand people saying that our dreams aren’t achievable, we should cover our ears with our hands. If there are people laughing while we fall from our run towards our dreams, then we should stand up, start walking, and run again. Life is too short to listen and care for any negativity that comes out from the mouth of ignorant and toxic people.

Above all, whatever our dreams are, I want all of you including me to remember one thing. There is only one type of person that we should be, and that is a decent human being. No matter how high our positions are, how powerful we are, how much money we have, remember to treat each other with respect, help the ones in need, and stand for justice.

I hope that all of you and I will never lose hope in the pursuit of your dreams. I pray that we can always stand up no matter how hard the challenges are. And I believe that one day, in God’s good time, all of us will achieve our dreams and be the person we have always wanted to be.
